Also known as "French vermouth," dry vermouth is a white wine fortified with various botanicals.

The term "French vermouth" originates from the time when the dry version of this fortified wine was produced only in France. Nowadays sweet vermouth is also produced in France.

Dry vermouth is an ingredient in the classic Martini Cocktail. One of the premier brands of dry vermouth is Noilly Prat.
