The Salt Dog is a drink consisting of Vodka, Fresh Grapefruit Juice, and a dash of Salt or a Salt-rimmed glass.

Origins of the Salty Dog
Created by George Jessel, who also invented the Bloody Mary.
Recipes
American Bar" by Charles Schumann, 1995
- 2 oz Vodka
- 2 oz Grapefruit Juice
Shake over ice cubesin a shaker, strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with salt.

- 4 parts vodka (2 oz)
- Grapefruit juice
- Coarse salt
- Granulated sugar
- Lime wedge
