The Whiskey Sour is a Cocktail consisting of Whiskey, Fresh Lemon Juice, and Sugar.
Earliest Printed Recipe
From Jerry Thomas' (1862)
- Take 1 large tea-spoonful of powdered white sugar,
- dissolved in a little Seltzer or Apollinaris water.
- The juice of half a small lemon.
- 1 wine-glass of Bourbon or rye whiskey.
Fill the glass full of shaved ice, shake up and strain into a claret glass. Ornament with berries.

- 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15ml Sugar Syrup
- 15ml Eggwhite
Shake with ice, and then strain into Ice-filled Rocks Glass. Garnish with a Lemon Slice.
