Sex on the Beach

There are two common strains of this drink. One uses black raspberry liqueur (Chambord) and melon liqueur (Midori); the other uses peach schnapps.

A properly made Sex on the Beach requires cranberry juice. In recent years some bars have been using grenadine instead.

Mr. Boston Official Bartender's & Party Guide

  • 1/2 oz Black Raspberry Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Melon Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Cranberry Juice.

Stir with ice and strain into a cordial or shot glass. Top with cranberry juice.

TGI Friday's recipe

  • 3/4 oz. Vodka
  • 3/4 oz. Midori
  • 3/4 oz. Chambord
  • 1 1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice
  • 1 1/2 oz. Cranberry Juice

Mix well and pour over ice.

  • 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
  • 2 oz. Cranberry juice
  • 2 oz. Orange juice
  • 2 oz. Pineapple juice

Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass with ice.

  • 1/2 oz Peach schnapps
  • 2 oz Cranberry juice
  • 2 oz Orange juice

Add vodka and peach schnapps to a highball glass over ice. Fill with equal measures of cranberry juice and orange juice, and stir.

A "Safe Sex on the Beach" is made without alcohol and includes cranberry juice, grapefruit juice and peach nectar in a 3/3/2 ratio.
