Biography
Debonair, a great raconteur, and an unparalleled authority, Dale DeGroff is a much sought after expert in the industry and universally acknowledged as the world's premier mixologist. DeGroff developed his extraordinary techniques and talent tending bar for over twenty-five years at great establishments, most notably New York City's famous Rainbow Room, where, from 1987 to 1999, he pioneered a gourmet approach to recreating the great classic cocktails. Referred to as the "King of Cocktails”, DeGroff is often credited with reinventing the profession of bartending and setting off a cocktail explosion throughout the world.
Debonair, a great raconteur, and unparalleled authority, his prominence and innovations continue to grow and impact the bar industry. DeGroff provides consulting and bar training to spirits manufacturers and leading restaurants and hotel chains, and serves as director of beverage arts for part of the year at the Halekulani Hotel. Honored with Spirits Professional awards from Nightclub & Bar, Saveur, Cheers, Sante, Food Arts, and Bon Appetit Magazines; and a James Beard award nomination, DeGroff appears regularly in the press and media including: Fine Living Network, Food Network, Cooks Tour, Simply Ming, B. This year DeGroff teamed up with four other spirits professionals in order to launch Beverage Alcohol Resource (BAR), an organization that provides training and accredited credentialing in distilled spirits, mixology. DeGroff is also the founding President of The Museum of the American Cocktail, the first museum in the world dedicated to education in mixology and preserving the rich history of the American Cocktail.
