Whiskey Sling

The Whiskey Sling is a Cocktail which consists of Whiskey, Sugar, and Water. When rye whiskey in particular is used, this is known as a Rock & Rye.
Recipes
Recipe#1: Jerry Thomas (1862)
- Take 1 small tea-spoonful of powdered white sugar.
- 1 wine-glass of water.
- 1 wine-glass of Bourbon or rye whiskey.
Dissolve the sugar in the water, add the whiskey and ice, stir thoroughly with a spoon. Grate a little nutmeg on top, and serve.

- Build
- 2 oz rye or Bourbon whiskey
- 1 tsp sugar dissolved in water
- ice, stir
- Add lemon twist
- Serve in a rocks glass
