A Flip is a class of mixed drinks, the defining feature of which is that is contains egg. The most commonly known flip is Egg Nog. Cream is typically added, but is not an essential part of the drink. Cold flips are shaken and strained, whereas hot flips are generally stirred.
The basic flip recipe calls for a base spirit, egg, sugar, cream (optional) and grated nutmeg as an edible garnish. Flips can be served hot or cold, depending upon the recipe.
